I just added a WHOLE YEAR of monthly themed spelling word practice activities for homeschoolers to my TeachersPayTeachers store.
Many years ago, when we first started homeschooling, I quickly learned that spelling practice was not a favorite activity for my girls. It did not seem to help them to just copy the words over and over on lined paper each day. So, after a little Internet searching and a little experimentation, we found the magic key to spelling practice: different activities to choose from utilizing different materials and monthly themes. The best part was that the girls got to select for themselves which activity they felt like doing that day. I tried to vary the activities, with some being physical activities, like jumping while spelling, and others are more artistic. For example, they might draw a holiday themed picture and hide words in the picture. Or write in white crayon on white paper and then color over it with markers to make the invisible words appear.
These activity sheets can be printed weekly on plain paper and then students can color, cross off, or place stickers on top of completed activities. October and November have cut and paste activities. Sheets can also be laminated and then reused each week with dry erase markers.

Materials needed for the activities:
· Markers
· Crayons (make sure there is a white)
· Plain paper
· Scissors
· Glue
· Chalkboard and chalk/wet paintbrush
· Construction paper
· Letter tiles (Scrabble or Bananagrams, or printed on cardstock)
· Computer for typing words
· Magazines to cut up
· Room to jump, bounce, march, pretend to swim/fly/row a boat, etc. while spelling out loud
For a limited time, this year-long resource is available for FREE in my TPT shop. Wishing you and your students loads of fun with spelling practice in your homeschool this year!
