When I first started homeschooling, I would do basic searches on Yahoo or Google for free resources. Pinterest connected us to blogs with great ideas. There were quite a few sites that helped us out in those early years:
Homeschool Share, especially their Lapbook Templates
Pinterest searches started leading me to Teachers Pay Teachers for free resources. I quickly learned that TPT is a GOLD MINE of free resources for your homeschool classroom! Just search for whatever you need and either add the word “free”, or sort the results by ascending price to show free items first.

If you are just starting out in homeschooling, this website is great for finding free handwriting practice sheets, math practice and games, science journal notes, history maps, and foreign language games. I discovered many of my favorite TPT stores through freebies, and went on to purchase some of their larger resources. This freebie from La Profe Plotts is a favorite:
TPT is not just for elementary school. There are many middle school and high school teacher-authors providing amazing free resources as well. I find supplementing our regular curricula with fun extras is a great way to keep my student engaged and challenged. She likes the variety! For ELA, I have added in games and puzzles for literature and poetry studies, some were free! Algebra and geometry games and activities are fun review to include instead of regular lessons right before holiday breaks.

While wrapping up the school year, or preparing for the next, look for free resources to make teacher life easier. It will save you time to use what someone else already created that recreating the wheel yourself. Plus, you may find a new favorite source for lessons, activities, and games for your student(s)!
